Then it finally loosens its grip a little, and suddenly you panic because now you might actually have to live differently.
Maybe you will speak up.
Maybe you will leave.
Maybe you will stop hiding.
Maybe you stop preparing for disaster like it’s your full-time profession.
A lot of people don’t just fear the problem.
They fear what happens after.
Which is deeply human, honestly.
Freedom is terrifying, yes.
And so is mold on the prison wall.
